When the Calling Costs Something

When things look impossible, faith becomes a choice.

There are seasons in life when the road feels long and the answers feel far away. When the hours apart from the people we love feel heavy. When the calling God has placed on our hearts feels bigger than what we can see in front of us.

This is one of those seasons for us.

At Nabajja Hope Missions and Travel, our story is built on obedience to a calling that sometimes requires sacrifice. Long hours. Long distances. Waiting seasons. Trusting God when the path ahead does not make sense.

Yet even here, we hold tightly to what we know is true.

God has never failed His people.

Scripture begins with a reminder that God stands outside of time itself:

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

— Genesis 1:1

He is the Alpha and the Omega.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”

— Revelation 22:13

When circumstances look impossible, we remember the God we serve.

The God who made a way through the sea when Israel was trapped between Pharaoh’s army and the Red Sea.

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

— Exodus 14:14

The God who brought water from a rock in the desert.

“I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink.”

— Exodus 17:6

The God who took a shepherd boy and made him a king.

“The Lord does not look at the things people look at… the Lord looks at the heart.”

— 1 Samuel 16:7

The God who gave Hannah a child after years of tears and prayers.

“I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of Him.”

— 1 Samuel 1:27

The God who saved Daniel from the lions’ den.

“My God sent His angel, and He shut the mouths of the lions.”

— Daniel 6:22

The God who rescued three men from a fiery furnace.

“The God we serve is able to deliver us.”

— Daniel 3:17

The God who multiplied five loaves and two fish to feed thousands.

“They all ate and were satisfied.”

— Matthew 14:20

The God who raised Lazarus when all hope seemed gone.

“I am the resurrection and the life.”

— John 11:25

And the God who raised Jesus from the grave.

“He is not here; He has risen.”

— Matthew 28:6

Again and again throughout Scripture, what looked impossible became the stage for God’s power.

This is why we choose to trust Him now.

Our hope is not in circumstances.

Our hope is in YHWH — the Lord our Provider.

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.”

— Philippians 4:19

We trust Him to provide for our family.

We trust Him with the future of this mission.

We trust Him with the children we pray for.

We trust Him with the work He has placed in our hands.

Even in the valley, we remember:

“The Lord is my shepherd… He leads me beside still waters… You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”

— Psalm 23:1–5

And we remember where our help truly comes from:

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

— Psalm 121:1–2

Our prayer today is not only for ourselves.

We are praying for America.

We are praying for Uganda.

We are praying for families separated by borders, by callings, by circumstances.

We are praying for those walking through their own valley seasons.

God has not forgotten His people.

He has not forgotten Uganda.

He has not forgotten America.

And He has not forgotten you.

Whatever you are walking through, the same God who made a way through the sea, shut the mouths of lions, and raised Christ from the grave is still moving today.

So today we choose faith.

We choose worship in the valley.

We choose to lift His name high.

Because the God who has carried us through every season before will carry us through this one too.

If this message resonates with you, we invite you to join us in prayer today.

Pray for Uganda.

Pray for America.

Pray for families like ours who are walking in obedience even when the road is difficult.

And pray that God continues to raise up people willing to step into His calling.

Because sometimes what looks impossible is simply the place where God is preparing to move.

If you feel stirred reading this, our encouragement today is simple.

Do not rush past it.

Take time with God.

Turn off the noise.

Step away from the endless scrolling.

Find a quiet place and bring your heart honestly before Him.

Jesus said:

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

— John 14:6

If you feel weary… bring it to Him.

If things feel impossible… bring it to Him.

If you are in a season of waiting… bring it to Him.

God is not distant from the cries of His people.

“The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.”

— Psalm 145:18

Spend time with Him today.

Open His Word.

Sit in His presence.

Speak honestly with Him.

Because the truth is this:

The answer we are all searching for is not found in a program, an organization, or a plan.

It is found in Him.

Jesus said:

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

— John 8:12

Our prayer is that today you encounter Him in a real and personal way.

Because He truly is the way, the truth, and the life.
