Hope in Jesus Outreach Ministries is led by Pastor Ssentongo Hudson and his wife, Dorcus, whose lives together are a powerful testimony of redemption and God’s transforming grace. What began in deep hardship has become a story of restoration, partnership, and shared calling.

Hudson’s journey began long before he ever imagined becoming a husband, a father, or a minister of the Gospel.

​

Hudson lost his mother to HIV/AIDS when he was only nine years old. He watched her take her final breath. His father was absent during her illness and did not return until five days after her burial. Hudson was then taken to Iganga, where he lived with a stepmother who mistreated him, denied him food, and frequently kept him from school.

​

The conditions at home pushed him into survival mode. Hungry and desperate, he stole food and small amounts of money just to stay alive. Eventually, he ran away. For two years, he lived on the streets as a child—sleeping on storefront verandas, begging for food, and navigating life completely on his own.

​

Everything changed the day his grandmother found him. She brought him home, returned him to school, and gave him a chance at a new beginning.

​

In 2008, Hudson began working at a Community Development Center in Iganga as a compound cleaner and office messenger. That same year, a young girl named Dorcus was among the first 80 youth to join the program. Neither imagined their lives would later become intertwined.

​

Hudson left the Community Development Center in 2011. Two years later, he reconnected with Dorcus. Their relationship grew, and in time they became parents. Determined to build a stable future for their family, Hudson supported Dorcus as she completed her education.

​

He later enrolled her in a women’s empowerment program where she learned tailoring and knitting. She excelled, continued her training at Rolina Vocational Institute, and eventually became a teacher there. Today, she continues to use those skills to equip other women and youth in their community.

​

While their family was growing, their spiritual journeys were very different. Dorcus was a devoted Christian, faithfully attending church and praying for her family. Hudson, however, had grown up without prayer, faith, or spiritual guidance. He did not understand her commitment to church and often discouraged her from going. Still, she continued to pray for him quietly and consistently.

​

One evening, after Dorcus attended an overnight prayer gathering, she came home deeply distressed and spiritually troubled. The experience unsettled Hudson in a way he could not explain. For the first time, he felt the weight of spiritual realities he had long dismissed. The next morning, he agreed to go to church with her.

During the service, Dorcus again became overwhelmed. The pastor and church leaders prayed with her, and she experienced peace and relief. For Hudson, that moment was pivotal. Something shifted in his heart. He realized that the faith he had resisted carried real power and hope.

That experience marked the beginning of his transformation.

Hudson began learning under Bishop Kyozira Henry of Fountain Faith Deliverance Church, who became his spiritual father. Under his mentorship, Hudson learned how to pray, preach, minister to others, and serve with humility. He joined crusades, attended trainings, and grew in his understanding of spiritual authority and pastoral leadership. He was also influenced by leaders such as Prophet Apostle Moses Mukisa of Worship Harvest and Pastor Emily from Canada.

During this season, Hudson began sensing a call to reach communities deeply affected by spiritual fear, poverty, and brokenness. Through prayer and dreams, he felt specifically led toward a rural village called Luuka–Busalamu—an area known for heavy spiritual oppression and longstanding fear rooted in witchcraft practices. Many churches had previously tried to establish a presence there but struggled to remain.

Before planting a church, Hudson and Dorcus began by simply walking from home to home—listening, praying, and building relationships. They formed small missional groups and offered encouragement to families. On their very first outreach, they visited five homes—and three people gave their lives to Jesus. As prayer continued, families began to experience freedom from fear, reconciliation in their homes, and renewed hope.

In 2023, the community itself gave the ministry its name, saying, “We have found hope in Jesus.”

That is how Hope in Jesus Outreach Ministries was officially born.

​

For the past three years, Ssentongo and Dorcus have faithfully led the church together, serving:

• single mothers

• school dropouts

• orphans

• families in crisis

• people hungry for hope

 

With limited resources but deep faith, they launched a small skills training program. Dorcus now leads much of this initiative, training women and youth in tailoring and knitting. Many have graduated and are now earning income to support their families. As the need grows, so does their vision.

Today, Ssentongo’s greatest joy is seeing God restore lives—children worshiping, families healed, the elderly comforted, and souls finding peace. Each morning, he walks through the village with a small speaker system, sharing the Gospel from home to home and field to field.

​

From a street boy who once had nothing, to a husband, father, pastor, and community leader bringing hope to an entire village—Hudson’s story is living proof that God can redeem any life and rewrite any future.
