From Mission to Marriage: The Heart Behind Nabajja Missions & Travel

Moses and Malorie Nabajja, founders and owners of Nabajja Missions and Travel. Their story began in September 2023, when Malorie traveled to Uganda on a mission trip—never imagining God was about to rewrite her life in the most beautiful way. What started as a friendship rooted in shared faith and a passion for serving others soon grew into a deep, God-ordained love. On May 23, 2025, Moses and Malorie were married, stepping into both marriage and ministry together. Their journey is living proof that when we follow God’s calling, He leads us into stories far greater than we ever expected.

A Biblical Story of Marriage: Becoming More Like Jesus, Together

In Scripture, marriage is far more than a contract—it is a covenant, a sacred bond created and defined by God Himself. The Hebrew word for covenant, berit (בְּרִית), speaks of an unbreakable promise, a binding commitment rooted in faithfulness, sacrifice, and love. From the very beginning in Genesis, God paints the picture of marriage as a divine partnership:

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”—Genesis 2:24

The phrase “hold fast” comes from the Hebrew word dabaq (דָּבַק) which means to cling, pursue, or stay tightly connected. Biblical marriage is not passive—it is an active pursuit of unity, even when life becomes complicated.

Marriage as ‘Ezer Kenegdo’: A Powerful Partnership

When God created woman, Scripture used a profound Hebrew phrase:ezer kenegdo (עֵזֶר כְּנֶגְדּוֹ) — “a helper suitable,” or more accurately, a strength that stands face-to-face.

“Ezer” is the same word used for God as our helper in the Psalms. It means strength, support, and life-giving presence.

Marriage, then, is designed as a partnership of strength—two people who come alongside each other, support one another, challenge each other, and reflect God’s nature together.

Marriage as Refinement

But covenant love doesn’t promise an easy path.

Everyday pressures…Cultural differences…Misunderstandings…Distance and travel…The stretching that happens as two lives merge…

These are not signs of a broken covenant—they are the very fires of refinement God uses to make us more like Jesus.

In Hebrew, the word for refine is tsaraph (צָרַף), meaning to purify by fire, to remove impurities. Marriage is one of God’s greatest refining tools. It exposes selfishness so that love can replace it. It reveals pride so humility can flourish. It teaches patience, forgiveness, mercy, and sacrificial love—qualities modeled perfectly by Christ.

Loving Like Jesus

The closer we move toward Jesus, the more we become capable of loving each other well.

In the New Testament, marriage is described with an even deeper meaning. The Greek word agapē (ἀγάπη) is the love we are called to embody—selfless, enduring, intentional, unconditional.

This is why marriage is often called our first ministry.

Before serving nations, before leading others, before pouring into ministry…We first pour into one another.We protect the covenant God entrusted to us.We choose each other daily, even when it’s hard.

A Marriage That Ministers

A marriage that endures challenges becomes a testimony.

A marriage that overcomes cultural differences becomes a bridge of unity.

A marriage that withstands distance shows that love is stronger than miles.

A marriage centered on Jesus becomes a living sermon of grace, forgiveness, resilience, and covenant faithfulness.

And a marriage built on berit—God’s covenant love—becomes a ministry that speaks louder than words, touching lives and pointing others back to the heart of God.
